Utoprocessing, 2021
A joint exhibition in collaboration with Martina Priehodova, for Maydays 2021.
Utoprocessing is a mixed media exhibition, combining sculpture, installation, film, sound, painting, and photography, in collaboration with two students from the Conservatory: Julius Jonker and Robert IJserinkhuijsen. Our project explores hydrofeminism, and the ways in which transhumanism can be reconciled in the feminine body.
Using the analogy of the body as a body of water to deepen and be mindful of the interrelations between ourselves and the world around us. Water is the fundamental link between us, our bodies, other living things, the past and the present, and our environment. We relate this to transhumanism (the integration of organisms and technology), and technological systems through water cooling methods, such as that used by a PC.
Pipes and tubes run through our bodies like fibre optic cables under the sea; carrying data from one component to another, cleansing and cooling the system, and merging all parts into one comprehensive working unit.
